OUR COMMITMENT TO SUSTAINABILITY
At Rhapsody Hair we believe in creating beauty without compromising the health of our planet. We are deeply committed to sustainability and our practices reflect our dedication to reducing our environmental impact. Our efforts focus on three core principles: Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.
REDUCE
Reducing waste is a vital part of our sustainability mission. We've partnered with Green Circle Salons, a leading organization that helps salons minimize their ecological footprint. Through this partnership, we collect materials such as hair foils, cans, product packaging and even unused mixed hair color. These materials are then sent to Green Circle Salons where they are responsibly repurposed, keeping them out of landfills and our local water supply.
We also support local businesses by refilling our cleaning products at Refill Madness, a nearby store dedicated to minimizing plastic waste. This initiative allows us to reduce our single-use plastic consumption and support the local economy.
Water consumption is minimized with the use of Eco-heads shower heads. Reducing the average number of gallons to rinse hair color from 16 to 3 gallons.
Along with an abundance of natural light, LED bulbs are used to minimize energy and the lifespan of each bulb.
REUSE
We prioritize reusability in every aspect of our operations. We've eliminated disposable products and replaced them with sustainable alternatives, such as reusable hand towels and coffee pods. By choosing reusable options we significantly cut down on the waste we produce and ensure a cleaner, greener environment.
Our commitment to reuse also extends to the products we use in our salon. Our haircare line, Davines, is a certified B Corporation that shares our commitment to sustainability. Davines implements numerous initiatives to reduce their environmental impact, such as using recyclable and reusable packaging and sustainable sourcing of ingredients.
In demand packaging used in the salon is thoroughly cleaned and donated to Refill Madness for their customers convenience while shopping in the store.
Our favorite glasses used to serve tasty beverages have been sourced from local second hand stores giving them a new life.
RECYCLE
Recycling is another cornerstone of our sustainability efforts at Rhapsody Hair. We have a comprehensive recycling program in place that covers everything from hair clippings to food scraps. Hair clippings and compostable materials including cardboard and tea leaves are collected and composted, contributing to a low-waste environment. We also ensure that all recyclable materials, such as paper and plastic, and metals are properly sorted and recycled.
Additionally, our partnership with Green Circle Salons helps us recycle specialized salon waste that would otherwise end up in a landfill. By recycling these materials, we close the loop and give them a second life, reducing our carbon footprint and supporting a circular economy.
